Summer Ball Coaching

Now that the season has started, we need to start preparing for the summer ball season. This is a quick note to all coaches interested in coaching a summer ball team this year.

Coaching a summer ball team requires a big commitment of time with some teams practicing daily and tournaments every weekend through to the provincials in August.

Application: All Coaches (i.e., head and assistant) are to complete the Coach Application Form (see below) and email to our Executive Director, Heather Melenchuk.  The Deadline for submissions is sometime in May.

Coach Evaluation. All applicants for the Head Coach position will be reviewed by the baseball committee, made up of a number of board members, including the President, Glenn Kirkpatrick, and me. Successful applicants will complete an interview and be asked to describe their coaching experience and philosophy. Assistant Coaches recommended by the selected head coach will also be evaluated by the baseball committee prior to any announcements.

In some years, we are unable to field summer ball teams due to a lack of coaches. This is very unfortunate given the experience that summer ball brings for players, coaches and families. If you have any interest in being a summer ball head or assistant coach, I would strongly recommend that you apply.

For Tadpole, we require that head coach applicants have their Initiation Trained Certification. Other division coaches should refer to the table NCCP Coaching Certification – WRSSBA Guide to Community Coaches  on the Coaching Courses and Events page to determine the recommended certification.

Thank you for your time and good luck this season!
