15U Bantam AA Tritons – Provincial Champions!

The 15U Bantam AA team had a very successful regular season compiling a 32-8 record which included wins against everyone in their league. The team was confident entering their provincial tournament in Nanaimo July 27th to 30th, that they could find success and bring home the banner.

The round robin went as expected but found our boys in a tough battle vs Cowichan in Game 3. The boys pulled it out in extra innings though with some timely hitting and great defensive play to secure a spot in the semi finals. They wrapped up the round robin with a game vs rival North Delta. North Delta won that game and received top spot in the pool. White Rock finished pool play with a 3-1 record.

Championship Sunday brought the tournament #1 seed Richmond and the boys replied with their best overall game of the season. The team smashed the ball around the park and jumped out quickly to a big lead. In the end it was clear; White Rock 12, Richmond 5. Our boys would move on to the final and waiting for them was North Delta. This would mark the 8th game between the two teams in just over three months. Needless to say there is some good competitive dislike in both dugouts.

The game started off tight with zeros on the scoreboard through the first three innings. Then our boys got the bats going in the top of the fourth scoring four runs, the pitching and defense would take care of the rest. White Rock securing the 4-1 victory and first provincial title at the 15U Bantam AA level in the association.

Congratulations to all the players, coaches and families involved!

It is on to the Western Canadian Qualifiers for this team, wishing them continued success!
